Old writing and good laughs

Our house is still in disarray after our floors, so I had to search high and low to find the box that had paper in it.  I never found the loose-leaf paper I was hunting, but I ran across my bright pink composition book.  I needed paper to work out our homeschooling schedule because apparently it wasn’t going to figure itself out and trying to do it on the computer kept giving me a block.  So I picked up some actual, real life, not electronic, paper.  I didn’t have to plug it in or anything.

I had started to write in it back in 2010 while we were on a vacation.  It has some boring entries, like where we were going to stay, and what I had left to buy (Socks, Oil of Olay face cream…sensitive skin), how much of what clothes to pack for which kid…all lists that I do on my iPad now and then delete.  I sorta miss using physical paper for these things…especially when I run across them later and laugh.

This is especially true as I ran across my vacation notes…things to remember for the future….like the hotel in Swainsboro, Ga doesn’t have ANY cribs and Domino’s pizza makes us sick (literally..) so if we want food in Tavares, FL we need to get there before 10 pm!   And then the observations…apparently all the people in the baby food aisle at Target were either high or found Gerber stage 2 mac and cheese REALLY funny for no good reason.  And what Princess Ahem thinks about things “if you are at a rest area with a guest desk, you can ask them questions about sharks and boats.  This is true even if you are in Kentucky.   And possibly my favorite observation relates to a bumper sticker that states “What schools really need is a moment of science.”  And I saw this in SOUTH GEORGIA!

Even after the addition of my (many) drafts of our schedule, there are a lot of blank pages left.  I’ve been meaning to get back to writing for ME (wha?) and I think I came across this notebook and sat down to read the entries as a final push to get to it.  There are a lot of great things about writing on the computer, but there is something great about pulling out the paper and the pencil and just writing.  So I will.
